Embrace Low Carbon Heating with AIR2HEAT LTD

A Case Study - Daikin Air Source Heat Pump Retrofit

Recently a Client had been in contact to enquire about having an Air Source Heat Pump for their new Home. They had originally expressed their interest with Daikin UK and were keen to discover more about the Daikin Altherma range and needed an Installer to discuss their project with in more detail.

💡 The Sustainable Home Network with Daikin is a fantastic concept and is primarilly focussed on raising awareness of heat pumps and how they can tackle the climate crisis. Across the Country are a number of Sustainable Home Centres that are one-stop shops for Clients to discover more about heat pumps and how Daikin products can help reduce emissions, create healthier home climates and reduce energy bills. Within the Sustainable Home Centre there are showrooms where Clients can experience the range of Low and High Temperature Air Source Heat Pumps along with Air Conditioning products and Air to Air Heat Pumps. The Centre is where you can also find contact details of Sustainable Home Installers within the Region or County. This is how I came to have the pleasure of meeting Luke and Sam.

Initially I had conducted a Home Survey to determine the Heat Loss Calculation, the suitability for the proposed system and to obtain a visual perspective of how the system equipment could be installed within the property. As it was determined that a High Temperature unit was better suited to the property and also offered a higher SCOP I then suggested to Luke and Sam to view the proposed equipment at the Sustainable Home Centre for Shropshire. The Daikin SHC for Shropshire is Farr and Harris and is managed by a very professional and extremely helpful Gentleman named Anthony. I had assured Luke and Sam that if they visited the Centre they would have the opportunity to see the High Temp units in the Showroom which would give them a better idea of how the equipment would look in their home and in addition the would be able to ask Anthony any questions they may have regarding the equipment. They visited a day or two later.

A few days further along myself and Anthony attended Luke and Sam's to have a further evaluation of the potential system design and layout. It's the little things like this that really matter to ensure the project goes smoothly, we want a high standard of service even before the project has started.

Satisfied that every aspect of the project had been given thorough evaluation a Full Quotation was provided for the project and the project went ahead a couple of months later.

Luke and Sam's new home consisted of 4 bedrooms, en-suite, two main bathrooms, open plan lounge/diner, large kitchen, utility room, WC, hallway and landing. The garage was incorporated within the propery so it made practical sense to have the new Daikin integrated cylinder in the garage and the Daikin HT air source heat pump would be on the other side of the outside wall. Conveniently there was a gully central of the heat pump location for the condensation waste to flow into. The layout of the installation reduced the amount of materials required. The Electrical power supplies that I specified for the project had been fitted by the Client's Electrician prior to the project starting so I was able to wire the new system up without any delays in the project.

I had also ply-lined the walls to mount the fixtures and fittings onto so the installation was neat and methodical.

On completion of the new installation Luke had downloaded the Daikin Onecta App, registered an account within minutes and we then together paired the new system to the App. Through the App we could also register the 5 Year Warranty.

Daikin, through their Sustainable Home Network also go a step further, they have their own Daikin Engineer or Daikin Service Partner commission the new installation. This is done to ensure that the Installer has installed the system in accordance with the Manufacturer's Instructions and to also provide the Installer with helpful knowledge and further skills for going forward. The checks and tests that are carried out by the Daikin Engineer are quite extensive to ensure a high standard of Installation, a full Daikin Report and Certificate are provided a few days later.

A fantastic service delivery and confidence inspiring for the Client too. âœ…

Farr and Harris as the Sustainable Home Centre played a positive proactive role in this project not only with the warm welcome given to Sam and Luke when they arrived at the showroom but the professional advice provided for them during their visit. In addition, with pre-installation site visits, logistics and a site visit on completion of the installation. It is their aim to ensure the project becomes a success for the Client too so ultimately we are all seeking the same goal to ensure a smooth project with a great success story.  ✅

Now that the warmer weather is approaching it may be time to get Luke and Sam's next project underway which is their Air Conditioning. I look forward to seeing them again soon and thank them for their valued custom.
